"Tender Loving Care" is able to expand their total children served by including "substitute" homes - YOURS! We are looking for Christian Substitute Parents to care for one or two children which the Lord has sent to us.
Children placed in loving, caring, nurturing homes gives them the opportunities that God desires and they so richly deserve. If you are able to care for one more child and are willing to do this out of the kindness of your heart (for no monetary gain), then we want to hear from you!

PROCEDURE TO BECOME A TLC SUBSTITUTE PARENT Effective 8/1/07 The 'Tender Loving Care' Complex, Inc. dba The “Tender Loving Care” Homes for Children is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit founded to allow children of families with large sibling groups; to remain TOGETHER when the unfortunate situation arises that causes the children to be separated from their parents. We will house children, birth to maturity from across the nation caught in situations of neglect, hard times, and abandonment by one or both of their parents, offering them the opportunity to come to us for the love and nurturing they so greatly need and deserve.
The following are the minimum requirements to be able to help us with our children:
- Interview with the Review Placement Committee initially
- Obtain Background Check documents which include:
-Fingerprint Card check = $34 -Drug Test = $28 -CPR/First Aid Training = $40 -Local Background Check (Cape Coral) = $5 -Personal Home Study/House Inspection -Complete “Tender Loving Care” Substitute Parenting documents
- Specialized Parent Training Classes for “Tender Loving Care” Children including the following:
-Complete Child Admission and Release Form -Learn foster child discipline techniques and child expectations -Learn how to discipline without hitting -Learn that “Disciplining is TEACHING”. -Attend “Tender Loving Care” Family Day every 4th Sunday of the month from 3-5pm at the TLC Complex to visit with child’s family and with other “Tender Loving Care” substitute families. -Learn who to call for backup when necessary i.e., babysitting or emergency situations -Learn what not to say to children i.e., “If you don’t do this or that, you’re going to DCF.” -What to do when child won’t go to bed (or can’t sleep). -How to give distinct boundaries -Know where to obtain a “receiving blanket” for each child you take in (which is theirs to take with them when they return home).
- Cooperation with mentoring from “Tender Loving Care” Pastor on a once a month basis
Compensation:
- $100 per child per month reimbursement is available
- Food is available and distributed at the “Tender Loving Care” Family Day function on the 4th Sunday of the month
- Expenses for child’s needs are reimbursed on a monthly basis.

Backgound Check Information Foster Parents and all adults that would be responsible for babysitting any TLC children would be expected to complete background information inquiries, Fingerprint Cards, Applications for local background, necessary Personal Information Forms and Drug Testing.
Associated costs per person is as follows: Fingerproint Cards - $32 Local Background Applications $5 Drug Testing $28
